TREATMENT OF IRRITABILITY WITH DEPOT-NEUROLEPTICS IN A BRAIN INJURED PATIENT

Abstract
|

|
A case of successful treatment of severe excitation and irritability `with depot neuroleptics ( haloperidol decanoate) in a brain injured 40 year old male patient is presented. It seems that depot neuroleptics is particulary useful in the clinical situations when other type of therapy failed to ameliorate such symptoms. Clinical implications and possible problems arising from the use of depot neuroleptics were discussed from the pharmacological point of view.
However, it needs further clinical experiences and researches to validate the use of depot drugs in the brain compromised patients.
